Drama Festival Success - published Nov 2025
In my 20 years of performing, I’ve experienced my fair share of backstage nerves, which is (almost) always followed by pure joy at the end of the show when you take your bow. I now know this doesn’t quite compare to watching your own students, who have worked so hard on their performances, to have the bravery to get up on stage and perform. Not only did each and everyone of my students who participated in the North London Speech and Drama festival do that, but they all shone.
In the Year 1 category, Meral and Alba performed ‘Flaming Blumingo’ by Cassie Bitten. They both delivered their poems with confidence and clarity and should both be very proud of themselves.
In the Year 3 category, Mavi captivated the audience with ‘I’m tired of being little’. Kai added a touch of fairy tale humour with ‘Little boy blue’ and Olivia gave us all a firm lesson in etiquette in ‘Tea with Aunty Mable’.
The adjudicator, Richard Marquiss, awarded Mavi and Olivia with joint second place , and Kai with third .
Well done team - looking forward to next year already!

This October half-term, the children enjoyed a creative two-day screen workshop packed with acting, filming and teamwork. They
learned the basics of acting for camera, explored scripts, and took turns both in front of and behind the lens.
The young filmmakers then brought their scenes to life on a mini film set, complete with multiple takes and camera angles. After the workshop, all footage was edited, and each child received a polished final scene to keep and share. It was a fun, confidence-boosting experience that gave every budding actor a chance to shine—an unforgettable half-term highlight!
